Have You Ever Taken Your Other Half Hunting

October 06, 2007 By: Jody Category: Deer Hunting 9 Comments →

I was checking other posts today and saw some really beautiful pictures of the wilderness.  Now, those that know me know I am the girly girl.  I don’t do bugs, snakes, etc.  But I was thinking I would love to go in the woods with Mark and take some really nice pictures.  That wishful thinking slowly started to fade.

First of all, his stand is probably built for one and I am not about to stand under it.  Then I remember the poison oak he had about 3 weeks ago.  Then of course there are the bugs.  Gosh only knows what kind of bug I would be smacking off of me or digging out of my skin.  Lastly, I think if a deer approached us and Mark was about to shoot, I would probably break down and cry and beg him not to.

So I am curious as to how many others have taken their better half, who do not hunt, out hunting?

The Passion of Hunting

October 04, 2007 By: Jody Category: Deer Hunting 5 Comments →

Those of you who are faithful readers know how passionate Mark is about hunting and it runs in the family.  Mark’s Dad Joe, was a hunter and Mark’s 3 brothers, Joe Jr., Steve and Kenny.  They all hunt.  I wonder if they’d had a sister if she would have been a hunter as well?

They are all your typical outdoors kind of guys.  They all hunt deer, have been to Canada bear hunting, Tennessee boar hunting, and fish on a regular basis.  I would say they all are very passionate outdoorsmen.  During hunting season, they are all together hunting their hunt.  They each have a story to tell the other.  What they saw, what they thought they saw, what they wished they saw, you know how it goes.  If one kills a buck, the others head out to try and help find it and bring it in.

Since I have been doing my blog, I can see the passion in those that have their own hunting blogs.  They have their own stories to tell and memories to keep.  They mount their animals with pride.  It makes me realize they do not hunt to kill but kill for the hunt.  They are hunters, true hunters that have a passion for hunting.  A passion unlike no other.
