Is It Really My Business or Yours
I came across a blog post recently about a Mother complaining about another Mother she saw smoking in a car with a small child. Whether you agree with this Mother or not it made me realize is it really any of her concern? Are we that quick to judge someone else and their behavior? She isn’t the one in the car, that isn’t her child with the smoker. Are we that quick to pass judgment on others? Whether we agree or disagree with this behavior, is it really our business the decisions others choose to make? Who are we to judge others and their actions?
Did the smoking Mother look over and see the non-smoking Mother and her child eating a donut? Are we then to judge the non-smoking Mother for feeding her child fast food and trans fat? Did the smoking anti-hunting Mother look over and see a deer tied to the back of the non-smoking Mother’s vehicle? Are we then to judge the non-smoking Mother for her right to hunt?
Who are we to pass judgment on others when our own decisions and actions may be judged? When are our legal rights and choices not the concern of others? Whether I agree with the smoker or not or whether I agree with the family who chooses to eat trans fat or the family who chooses to hunt, it really isn’t my place to pass judgment. They have a legal right to make the choices they choose and when it comes down to it, it isn’t my business.
