Enjoying the Outdoors
Kristine’s post on Monday regarding Could You Live Without the Outdoors provoked this post about being outdoors and enjoying your surroundings. One of the things that attracted Mark and I to our house was the fact that just beyond our backyard is the bike trail in the picture. Most of the bike trails in our county are the result of a project called Rails to Trails in which they converted old railroad tracks into bike trails.
Just after we moved in I walked the trail a couple of times a week by myself or with a neighbor. Then our lives got busy and we never had time to get into our routine again. I’ve walked the trail a few times by myself but it gets very boring. I’ve tried everything; walking, biking, ipod, etc. I just felt lonely. When spring comes and the bike trail gets very busy I see a lot friends out walking together. A few weeks ago my niece was over and her BFF (best friend forever). We were out in the backyard watching all the walkers when I said “I need a BTF”. They were like “What?” I said, “I need a BTF … a Bike Trail Friend.”
I haven’t found one yet so I guess I will just enjoy the outdoors watching the BTF’s from the comfort of my lounge chair.
Have a great day all!

I need a BTF too. We have a lot of trails around here, but it does get boring walking or hiking by yourself. It’s such great exercise, but it’s hard to get motivated. Guess I need to start looking for my BTF.

My wife is a pretty good BTF - we have one of those old railroads that’s been converted to a bike trail that you talk about right here in town that runs for a long long ways. But, I agree, biking and walking is just hard when you do it by yourself!

I try to get out and walk, but it isn’t working so with my meager garage sale earnings I ordered an all-terrain jogging stroller, (something I’ve wanted since Lil Sugar was born) it should arrive soon - maybe she and Drake can become my BTFs - maybe if I keep thinking positive thoughts… maybe, just maybe I’ll get motivated and start walking again. Hey, a girl can dream, right?

Awwww, Jody, you just need a gun. Bringing home food from a nature walk is all the inspiration I need to get out …
OK, you don’t HAVE to have a gun; you could forage too. Bet there’s a lot of edible things along that trail…
BTW, I love this “last blog post” feature on your comments. Very nifty, since my iGoogle has been very slow to update everyone’s pages recently.

Kristine, if we lived closer together we could be BTF’s.
Tom, maybe your wife could train Kristine and I.
Blessed, you have your very own in-house BTF’s.
NorCal, I would probably eat something poisonous. The last post is a cool feature.

Sounds like you need to take out a personal ad. Maybe a BTF would respond to that, of course they are probably the same people finding your site with the weird google searches, but anyway….good luck finding one!

Set a trap! Put out a SECOND LOUNGE TRAIL… fill a pitcher with some TOP SHELF STUFF… and sit out there on a HOT DAY. You’ll trap a BTF for certain! If that fails.. set a real trap, then “RESCUE” them.
