Fish Fry
This past weekend Mark and I decided to invite my Mom and Dad over for a fish fry. Our menu was bluegill from one of our trips to Kentucky, homemade hushpuppies and homemade french fries. When we go fishing Mark usually filets all of our fish when cleaning them.
Fried fish and homemade hushpuppies is actually one my very favorite meals that I don’t get to enjoy all that often. For those who know a little about me, I do not cook and you can read about it here. And here are a few reasons why…
Here is Mark breading the fish.

And frying the fish.

And my Mom and Dad cooking the hushpuppies and frying the fries.

And here I am waiting for my dinner…

How delicious do these homemade hushpuppies look? They are made with cornmeal, green onions, jalapeno peppers and boiling water.

And “POOF” - here it is on the table. It was oh so good!

And this was my Dad’s plate. Let me correct, his second plate.

Again, it was oh so good and well worth all the grease.

I love fried fish. My Dad makes the best fried fish I’ve ever tasted. He is the fish cook in our family, although I cook other things, I won’t try fish.
That looks like a stellar meal. I probably would have had a second plate too.

Looks awesome. You guys have a “carside to go” service or something like that. That would be sweet!
YUM!

Man that looks delicious. My 4 year old was looking over my shoulder and said “That looks like a good meal”. Yeah, he likes fish and hush puppies too. My favorite is Fried Catfish, but would certainly wouldn’t be passing up the bluegills!

Dinner looks great.
If those were your legs in that picture then you were not at home because you would need some very warm clothes on. The 19th was one of the coldest days of the year.
Can you send me the recipe so we all can cook like Mark! I have some perch in the freezer and need a good breading

The 10th was the cold night not the 19th. typo

Yes it was cold that night. I was there in thought.
The breading for the fish was just straight cornmeal. That is how my family has always made it. As for Mark, he will try all kinds of different breadings and/or mix them all up.
