Fishing Perch Lake Michigan Hammond, Indiana
Saturday our fishing friends came up north and we headed to Lake Michigan to fish for perch. The perch are normally in this time of year but the fishing reports from all the locals and our local bait shop guys have said they still seem scattered.
On our way out I took this great view of Chicago.

As we got closer to the hot spot for perch, there were at least 50 boats congregated in the same area. We inched our way in.

Mark was making and receiving calls from locals to update them on how we were doing and how it looked like the others were doing.
We were on the water for about 5 hours and only came away with 13 perch. The limit is 15 per person. Some of the perch fishermen did reach their limit but they were out a few hours earlier.
Here is one of the perch taken.

It sure wasn’t fishing like it was at Lake Barkley in Kentucky. To fish around here, you need to have much patience.

That is a cool picture of the Chicago skyline. I’m sorry you didn’t get more perch, but 13 should at least feed you and Mark.

Oofta. That’s too bad the fishing wasn’t hotter. I love a good meal of perch! At least you got enough for one meal, anyhow.

Hubby’s Dad lived in the Chicagoland area. Haven’t ever seen the city from that angle though. Really a great picture!
Sorry the fishing wasn’t better.

I’m with the rest of them…..the pictures are awesome. The fishing, you know, not my thing. I agree that the water looks choppy. Did anyone get nauseated? I was just looking at it. ha ha Sue

It was very windy and the water was pretty choppy. Our driver got a little ill but he took a pill and was fine.

Thanks for the comment on my daughter’s wisdom teeth. Yes, she had all 4 removed and she’s doing fine. You remember the same part that I do about the procedure, flushing out those dang holes!! But luckily you don’t have to flush out the top holes, thanks to gravity.
I love your blog, the pictures are great and you’re so funny.

I caught some perch this past weekend as well. Okay, so maybe they were only about 4 inches long, but they were still perch.
