It is funny how your parents can make you feel like you’re 10, even though you’re 30. I think it is funny that you even came up with an excuse as well. Hopefully Dad forgave you.

My parents knew about all kinds of bad things I did - but not smoking. Not until the day my mom came to see me in the middle of a relationship crisis that she’d had no idea was happening, and when she arrived I was sitting on my porch with a cigarette in my mouth.

“Oh yeah, and I smoke” was my greeting.

Oh yes I remember that day….It was pretty funny….Dad is one of those “do as I say not as I do” kind of people….and to smoke was horrible even tho he smokes 3 packs of Camel non filter a day….I too was about that age when I smoked in front of him for the first time….only difference was he expected it from me…LOL….
