My Dad’s Birthday - Football Season
Today is my Dad’s birthday and I have one wish for him. Go Bears!
My Dad and I have a love hate relationship during football season. My Dad is a big Colts fan and I am a Bears fan. In 2007 when the Bears and the Colts played in the Superbowl we had a day filled with competition.
My Dad had a party planned in his garage for the Superbowl. Neighborhood Colts fans would be attending. He has 2 wood burning fireplaces, a huge tv, couches, chairs, tables all setup in his garage.
He had gone to take a nap prior to the big game and I headed over to decorate. I waited for him to wake and explained that I decorated for his big day. As he opened the side door to the garage it was filled with orange and blue streamers, bear signs, bears pictures. I even had a bears coffee mug and bear mug for him to drink out of. The steam that came off his face wasn’t from his fireplace.
Our fighting didn’t end there. I headed home to watch the game on my own turf and the phone rang.
Me: Hello
Dad: &*^* the Bears. He then hung up on me.
Bears scored a touchdown - phone call to my Dad.
Dad: Hello
Me: **&^ the Colts. Ha ha ha. Hung up.
This went on all evening - back and forth on the phone.
When the Colts won - my phone rang. I told Mark I’m not answering it. So Mark put him on speaker and I had to hear it.
September 7, 2008 the Bears play the Colts. Dad Happy Birthday and &#*& the Colts.
P.S. - Dad isn’t Peyton Manning hurt?

Ahhh, you gotta love football season. Nothing like football to bring out the love between family members.
I can’t wait for college football this week, and I can’t wait for the NFL to kick off its season next week. This is the greatest time of year. And if I was your dad, I’d be a little concerned about Peyton as well.

Football? What’s that?
I’m not much of a sports fan but it sounds like you and your Dad have a lot of fun with this & that is great!

I’m not much of a football fan (probably because my state team is the Lions!) but that sounds like a lot of fun. I have to say I’d probably root for the Bears if I were picking a side. I’ve had an affection for them since the days when Mike Ditka coached the team.

While reading this I was reminded of the whole Ditka skit on Saturday Night Live with the Bears fans. Who is stronger Ditka, or your Hunter? It sounds like you guy’s have a blast!
I hate to admit that my brother is an avid Broncos fan, or as I like to call them a Pony fan. I am an avid Raiders fan. We go at it all the time, and most of the time it is in good taste. It has been pretty brutal for me lately, hopefully the Raiders can turn it around!

As a Bears fan, I can only say that the 2007 SuperBowl was incredibly painful to watch. I would have stopped answering the phone by halftime. You’re a good daughter.

Tell Georgie that I wish him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Tell him that I think he looks good for 50! ha ha I have to admit, I am a Bears and Colts fan. It’s like baseball for me…I like the Sox and the Cubs. Ok, I prefer the Sox and Bears, but I don’t dislike the others. I know, I’m different. Ron says that I can’t be like this, oh well…
