Road Trip - Boys & Boobs
THIS POST IS RATED PG
About once or twice a year I take a family trip with my Mom, sisters, nieces, and nephew. It is normally a long weekend to a cheer competition, to Georgia to visit my Moms long time friend, or to Kentucky just to get barbeque. For those who have never had southern Kentucky barbeque you are missing out. Starnes is our favorite.
For reference purposes, please note my Mom and sisters have big boobs. They are not just big boobs they are BIG boobs. (Sorry family.) I on the other hand, well let’s just say mine won’t sag at 60. (Sorry me.)
It was road trip time; destination Georgia. Eight of us in a van equipped with a CB radio. We had an 11 hour drive ahead of us with four adult females and four kids. The van looked like an apartment with blankets, pillows, books, coloring books, snacks, lunch, drinks you name it we had it. My older sister was in the drivers seat, my younger sister in the passenger seat, my Mom and I behind them and the kids were in the back.
After a couple hours on the road and the kids settled we decided to turn on the CB and listen to the trucker’s talk. My older sister has a bit of a lead foot so we were listening for any mention of any cops ahead. We had never communicated on a CB or really listened to one so we were waiting in anticipation to hear our first trucker. It was actually entertaining listening to all their slang until we heard…
”Billy Bob, you got a bodacious van full of beavers headed up your backdoor and you should see them there puppies.” We all looked at each other laughing never imagining that we would hear such things. Next thing I know we are all looking ahead of us, behind us, trying to figure out where these drivers are and who they’re talking about. We thought they must be some where in the area because we could hear them pretty clearly. But there was no van. We decided it was probably truckers from the other side of the highway.
As we start to approach a trucker ahead, my younger sister, who is in the passenger’s seat, looks up at the trucker as he is looking down at her. Static then comes on the CB and we hear ”Bodacious, Bodacious, Bodacious … those sure are some puppies.” For about 5 seconds we all sat there in silence and realized we were the “Bodacious Beavers.”
After the shock and laughter we decided we had a long trip ahead of us. What else is there to do on an 11 hour drive then have a little fun. We then hear driver #2 call up to driver #3, “Bobby Ray, bodacious puppies at your backdoor.”
My younger, gifted sister quickly tells me to switch seats with her. I jump in the front seat and we slowly pass driver #3 and then we hear “Billy Bob, son, you need glasses? Those aren’t no puppies.” Of course my Mom and sisters are laughing hysterical and I decide I don’t want to play anymore and want to go in hiding. And that is what I did as I switched sits with my gifted Mother.
My older, gifted sister slows down so driver #2 will pass us again. The CB static comes on and we hear “Bobby Ray, those sure are some puppies but that’s a different puppy.” As my Mom politely waves.
My older sister, the driver, decides to slow back behind driver #1 and grabs the mike of the CB and says “Boys, you want to see some puppies … we got puppies.” We put my 2 nieces, who are 5 and 7, in the passenger’s seat and we drive past all three drivers. We then hear laughter and one of the drivers say “Well I’ll be. You ladies sure do have yourself a sense of humor. I apologize for our rudeness. Where ya’ll headed?”
We didn’t find it to be insulting, well maybe I did, but we had a good hour of laughter. We also got some tips on bounties and trucker slang and our new trucker friends turned out to be very nice southern gentlemen.
Please note;
- Driver’s names have been changed to protect their privacy.
- Kids weren’t aware of puppies. They just wanted to have the truckers honk.
- I should have never got in the front seat. I am scarred for life.
- Mom, I’m sorry for sharing this story and I promise word will not spread thru town. If you see Mrs. K at the grocery store, I’m sure she doesn’t know we were misbehaving.

Kids looked really thrilled to be there…Oh and look, it is Mom politely waving. She is good at that. And to my gifted sisters, do you see those legs in the picture? I thought so!

Now that is a funny story! And way to handle those truckers. It was also nice to see you guys be such good sports about it all too. But I have to tell you that just for a second, when your sister asked if they wanted to see some puppies, I was worried for the kids sake…
And I don’t think you have to worry about about your reputation around here… not only was that nicely told, I bet MOST hunters have heard one or two “boobs and boys” stories at camp that would even make those nice truckers blush!

Oh that’s too funny. Seeing as how I would fit into the same category as your sister and mother, I found that highly amusing.
I also liked the way you handled the truckers.

That is great. Too funny!

that sounds like one great road trip!

Great story and nicely told. I think it is hysterical that they were talking like that about you guys without having a clue that you knew everything they were saying.
And if we don’t get anything more out of this story at least we know about Kristine’s category:):):) Oh my god that is funny.

That is the funniest thing I’ve read in a long time.
Nice blog.

O.k., I debated mentioning that I fit in that category, but I’ve lived with this chest since I was 10, so I’m over it by now.
Glad you found it funny, Arthur. That’s what I was going for.

great story and too funny… don’t feel too bad though, I’m in your class too and so are my sisters - my mom, now that’s another class!

You guys are funny! Kristine, there is probably going to be talk around the hunting community.

Hilarious! And it would never happen to me…
Bet you’re getting lots of Google hits with that headline too

Great Story, thanks for sharing. I needed a good laugh.
I use to “see the world through a windshield” in my younger days. I have to say, if that is ALL you heard on the CB, you were lucky! LOL Especially near a major city.
BTW, you can tell all the stories you want about your Family here, we’ll never tell anyone…promise

Jody,
You’re probably right. I’ve probably shattered my image forever.
Oh well, I suppose I could be known for worse things.

I am very surprised that the “younger sister” didn’t show her goods…Lol Poor Jody… What you lack in “boobs” you made up for with the legs….

I must not have hit the box for getting follow up comments, but thank god I checked back to see what people had to say about this hilarious story…
I am still cracking up over Arthur and Kristine!

Jeff,
They are funny. And luckily for Kristine it looks like only a few of us from the community know about it.

That was hilarious!
