The Lonely Days of Hunting - It’s Hunting Season
In some parts of the country hunting season is well underway leaving some wives of hunters lonely and bored. I’m sure there are some husbands of wives who hunt that are experiencing the same loneliness.
One of those wives is at Planned Spontineity. Her husband recently slept on the couch so as not to wake her with his early morning rise. Isn’t that sweet? Even some google searches have sent readers to my blog looking for things to do while their hunter is away hunting.
As much as I adore my hunting husband, hunting season provides me with some me time. I might choose to slept in, clean my house, have lunch with a friend, shop, go for a walk or maybe try a new recipe. Ok, stop laughing. I actually didn’t take a shower until the afternoon, took a nap, ordered a pizza and watched movies all night.
The key to this me time is when my hunter is back home - I give him a big kiss, hug, tell him how much I missed him, and how I want to hear every last word of his hunt. He likes to feel missed and think I’m actually interested in his day of hunting.
I try really hard to pay attention.
Have a good day!

I’m sure plenty of women are feeling a bit widowed right now, and through the first of the year.
My wife might be going through this the first time this year. Normally, she hunts with us, but this year that just isn’t an option.

My hunters sleep in the camper in the back yard with 5 or 6 of their closest friends.
During the hunting season (white tail in PA), I cower under blankets under the stairs of the basement with my emergency food bars and water flinching at the sounds of the bullets hitting the house. (Okay, not really– but do think about this!)

I think that sounds like a good way to handle things Jody. You do your thing and Mark does his and then you come back together at the end of the day and exchange stories about what you did. Very sensible.

Thank goodness for spouses who support their spouse’s passion for the outdoors! I’m not a hunter, but I spend a fair amount of time engaged in other outdoor adventure and I appreciate my sweetheart’s patience with me.

HA! My wife calls herself a hunting widow. She entertains herself with her crafts while I’m gone - and there is no way I’m sleeping on the couch so I don’t wake her with my early rising…I mean who would fix my breakfast if I did that?! Just kidding. I promise, I don’t make her fix my breakfast.
Happy me time season, Jody.

Bonneville, yep, I’m the supportive wife.
Tom, if Mark ask me to fix his breakfast…ha ha ha ha ha. That is what he would hear from me.

the bad thing is when my hubby gets up and tries not to wake me up he always does… and then I can’t go back to sleep! I usually hunt with him so it doesn’t matter but this year Lil Sugar and I will be hanging out together at home again!

When my hubby and I first started dating (30 years ago) he had planned a weekend to go hunting with some buddies…and I begged and pleaded to go with him. Big mistake, I was the only female there with about 10 other guys and they kept giving me dirty looks…..like what the heck is she doing here. I don’t know what, if anything was said to my hubby. But I learned my lesson….there are some things that I don’t have to be a part of. But I miss him like crazy when he is gone.

Me time sounds like the ticket to me Jody. You sound like you have plenty of things in mind to be real comfy! Gosh, if you get bored, just think, you could go for a boat ride!

I am going to share this with The Wife. She loves the ME time, but its the two kids to care for that sort of ruin it for her. When I am gone doing my thing there is no one to help share the load with them. I try and moderate my time away to help, but it is still a lot for her to manage. That’s why I love and appreciate her!!

My wife is with you. She just wants me out of the house so she can put the kids down for a nap and relax. She loves to hunt, but since the kids came, she has opted more for quiet time than the woods
